Add the remaining tablespoon or two of oil to the skillet. Once hot, add the shallots and sauté for 1 minute, stirring frequently. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and half of the green onions to the pan. Mix well to combine and sauté for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.

This part happens pretty quickly- do not walk away from fresh ginger and garlic on a hot skillet. It will burn. Grab the pre-mixed sauce and give it a good stir before pouring over the chicken. Mix well to combine. At the same time mix in the bok choy I chopped my bok choy into large chunks and left some pieces whole.

Continue to cook until the sauce has thickened, chicken is cooked through, and bok choy is softened approximately 5 minutes. When compared to other Chinese take-out options, this chicken stir fry recipe with bok choy is very healthy.

As you suggested I prepared everything in advance and it was much easier. Thank you for sharing your recipe. This recipe is the simply the best!!

Thank you! I added a tbsp of sriracha in and next time I will cut the bok choy smaller, but gosh it was just fabulous — thank you so much… A real winner in our house….

I made this last night with chili flakes added to the sauce. I added some peanuts to individual portions. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce is so good! My daughter is incredibly picky and loved it as well as my husband.

This is my new stir fry sauce and is going on the rotation. Hi Jess Very tasty recipe. The only thing I constantly run into is prep time. How does one cut up and prep chicken, chop garlic, mince ginger, cut shallots, green onions, bok choy and mix sauce in 10 minutes?

Not trying to be critical but this happens a lot. Cheers and thanks for supper! OMG thanks for this wonderful recipe, it definitely hit the spot. Thank you for sharing. Now I heat up that wok or large skillet over high heat. Do NOT use a nonstick skillet, as they can not handle this kind of heat.

I add a tablespoon or two of oil with a high smoke point, like canola or peanut. I get the wok and oil good and hot. Using a pair of tongs, I remove the chicken, letting the excess marinade drain off.

I add the chicken to the wok or skillet in batches and cook just until done, removing cooked pieces to a large plate or bowl. Stir fry moves very fast, so this is not the time to fold any laundry. Thin-cut slices of chicken are done in less than five minutes.

Pour another tablespoon of oil into the wok over high heat. Add the vegetables in batches. I usually separate my vegetables into three different batches; hard vegetables like carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower , semi-hard vegetables like onions, peppers, zucchini, and mushrooms , and soft vegetables like cabbage, spinach, tomatoes, and snow peas.

Hard vegetables are done in minutes. I usually place the top of the wok on during the last minute for the broccoli to steam just a touch.

All the vegetables need to be stirred frequently, so they do not burn. I remove them as they cook to the bowl with the chicken. I prepare the gravy using chicken broth, soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. If you like a little heat add a touch of sambel oleck or sriracha.

I turn the heat on the wok to medium-low and pour the liquid into the wok. Stir or whisk continuously until it thickens. I add everything back to the wok for a couple of minutes to reheat.
